Staff Teams Bond at Start of New Term

Company bosses who invest in staff wellbeing see their investment rewarded with a happier, healthier workforce, much more willing to ‘go the extra mile’ and exceed targets.  We’ve seen the benefits of this from a number of organisations that have experienced our Happiness Positivity and Mindfulness Programme.

Claire Kelly, Headteacher from Littlemoor Primary School in Oldham is one leader who pays testament to the benefits of supporting staff wellbeing. At the start of the new year, she brought us in to work with 50 staff members (new and long-serving) for a fun packed day of activity aimed to raise happiness levels and improve overall wellbeing.

Claire said ‘My son experienced Laughter in Mind activities when he was in year 6 and couldn’t stop talking about it.  I contacted them to see what they could do for my staff Inset at the start of term and they be-spoked a day for me based on my requirements.  It was a complete success.

Without exception, my team members really enjoyed the day and got a lot out of it.   It was great to see old and new staff bonding, connecting and laughing together.  It really set us up for the busy year ahead.  I’d definitely recommend Laughter in Mind to others.”

Children Learn Five Wise Ways to Wellbeing

Year 4, 5 and 6 Children in Rochdale schools are learning the importance of Connecting, Giving, Learning, Being Active and Taking Notice through our fun and interactive Five Wise Ways to Wellbeing Programme.

School children holding crossed armsBased on the New Economics Foundation’s set of five evidence-based actions (2008) to improve personal wellbeing, ‘Wise Ways’  provides fun interactive activities.  Children learn to develop a range of  skills which will enable them to  bring these actions into their daily lives.                 Children practice ‘Giving’ acts of kindness, learn how to GIVE and receive compliments, use their senses to ‘TAKE NOTICE’ and learn how to CONNECT with others safely.  Finally, they experience a new way of being ACTIVE by participating in a fun Laughter  workshop.

Call us to see how we can support your class.

Football – Us?

Football – Us?

We haven’t been hibernating this winter, though the snow has kept us from venturing too far over the Pennines.

Our work has been steady; supporting Rochdale schools with our 5 Wise Ways to Wellbeing Programme and Kirklees community groups have gained new skills in mindfulness, relaxation and happiness.   We’ve continued to deliver our Laughter Yoga workshops and managed to attend a couple of corporate conferences too. Bolton Wanderersimage by webbaviation.co.uk

Now as the spring flowers poke through and we move into milder weather, our calendars are filling up nicely with bookings in both Yorkshire and Lancashire.  We’re looking forward to supporting a NHS/Council schools event at Bolton Wonderer’s Macron Stadium in March. We won’t be playing or trying out for the team (now that really would be something to see!) but will be actively laughing with the conference delegates. We’re really looking forward to this.  Wonder if we’ll see any of the players?

Laugh Manchester, Laugh Oldham

We had a super turnout on Friday 13th June at our ‘Laugh Oldham’ Event at the Blue Tiffin Indian Restaurant.  Twenty five people attended this free Laughter Yoga Workshop as part of a simultaneous laugh across Greater Manchester coordinated by our good friends at Feelgood Communities.  Were were delighted that the local press, Manchester Evening News, Oldham Advertiser and Oldham Chronicle all ran a feature about the fun and laughter in Oldham.   If we have enough interest we will run a regular Laughter Yoga Workshop at the Royton venue. Interested?  Let us know.

No Age Barrier to Laughter

Culture Club Members

Laughter comes to Cleckheaton.  Members of the Kirklees Culture Club enjoyed an afternoon of laughter and relaxation at the beautiful Cleckheaton Town Hall recently.  Thirty over 55 year olds attended and participated in the Laughter Yoga activities.  Members asked for a seated workshop but by the end they were out of their seats clapping, laughing and dancing to our happy Bhangra music.  Feedback from the evaluations indicate that  100%  of participants enjoyed the session and 96% said they felt happier and more relaxed at the end.  Several members asked the organisers for a regular Laughter Club, which is fantastic news for Laughter In Mind CIC as we loved sharing this fun activity with them and look forward to meeting Culture Club members again soon.  Thank you for laughing with us!

Laughter In Mind goes International!

Castle Ward Northern IrelandNorthern Ireland’s stunning National Trust estate at Castle Ward was the venue for our recent trip, where 54 staff members participated in a two hour motivational Happiness and Laughter Yoga Workshop as part of their staff development day.

Staff ranged from volunteers to experienced employees and were treated to Laughter Yoga as an additional ‘thank-you’ for their hard work and commitment over the last 12 months by Estate Manager Barbara Muhly.

Barbara said,  ‘I’ve been at Castle Ward for over 10 years and wanted to do something a little different to thank staff.   Feedback has been really positive and I’m pleased that people got the opportunity to                                                                                     meet each other from different areas of the estate’.

One staff member said ‘We’ve never done anything like this before, I really enjoyed it, it was different and fun.  I met people who I’ve never come into contact with at work before too’

Laughter Yoga for work teams is a great activity to help people get to know each other it doesn’t matter what position you hold or what job you do, anyone can participate.  It’s a great stress reliever and fun for team-building too.

We had a super time at Castle Ward; eating the lovely food at the visitor’s café, walks around the stunning estate and touring the House, but most of all we enjoyed meeting the staff and sharing Laughter Yoga with them.

OBE Values Laughter Yoga for Staff

Headteacher Sandy Dixie OBE treated her staff to Laughter Yoga in support of her staff development day recently.  During the residential at the exclusive Cottons Hotel & Spa in Knutsford Cheshire,  53 staff were treated to two hours of team-building, happiness and laughter activities.

Along with her Staff and senior leaders,  Sandy participated in the fun group team-building activities, discussed positivity, happiness and well-being.  This is the second time Sandy’s staff have experienced the powerful effects of Laughter Yoga.  Another school she manages has also benefited from this world wide, fast growing phenomenon.

Laughter GuitarsSandy said ‘I hold a full staff development day every year and this year I wanted to introduce Laughter Yoga after hearing about it from a colleague who had used it with pupils.  I booked Laughter In Mind because they are educationalists with experience in schools,  I had some ideas and they designed a programme with me.  Staff enjoyed the session very much, it helped people bond and staff who rarely come into contact with one another have developed relationships.  I’m thinking about introducing Laughter Yoga to my pupils next.’

We’re looking forward to working with Sandy and her staff and pupils again soon!
