Do you only provide Laughter Yoga?

Not at all. We also provide: Team Building Activities, Community Capacity Building,  Behaviour Management, Well-being and Happiness Activities, Stress Management, Relaxation and Meditation. A high percentage of the workshops requested are built around the proven technique of Laughter Yoga.

What is Laughter Yoga?

Developed by a medical doctor in India, Dr Madan Kataria, Laughter Yoga combines simple breathing techniques with simple, fun exercise to stimulate laughter.   Laughter Yoga involves no jokes or comedy.  You don’t even need to have a sense of humour!  If you can clap laugh and breathe you can do Laughter Yoga! The amazing outcomes and benefits are well researched and documented.

Who are the workshops for?

Our workshops are for everyone!  Community groups, charities, schools, businesses, corporate events.  You may just want to organise a  session for a small group of friends. When you know some of the exercises you can even do them when you are alone.  Start the day with positivity and laughter!

Will I need to bring any equipment?

You may want to bring a cushion for your head and a blanket or mat as we lay or sit down at the end of workshops to relax.

What should I wear to a Workshop?

Any comfortable clothing and comfortable flat shoes.

Will I have to tell jokes or listen to others jokes?

No, there are no jokes, just simple individual and team activities, lots of  fun, breathing and laughter exercises

If I don’t want to participate in any of the exercises can I sit out and watch?

Absolutely!  You do not need to do anything you may feel uncomfortable about.  We are sure that once you see how much fun the group are having, you will want to rejoin them and have fun too.

Will I have to do yoga poses?

No, sorry.  If you want to do poses, then you need to join a traditional Yoga class.

Why are you called Laughter in Mind?

Our tools and techniques are great fun and  are good for the body and mind, so we chose a name that reflects that.

How much does a session cost?

This varies on your group or individual need.  Give us a call and we’ll do our best to fit with your budget.

What are the health benefits?

We combine a  lot of laughter in our workshops and there are many health benefits to laughter , below are just some of them:

  • When we laugh we take in more oxygen and expel (breathe out) bad carbon dioxide.
  • Oxygen circulates round our bodies nourishing our organs, cells and brain.
  • Laughing encourages our brain to releases endorphins, good hormones which make us feel more relaxed and happy.  These endorphins can help us to cope with pain.
  • Our immune system (which fights disease) benefits from the increased oxygen and released endorphins.
  • Serotonin, a natural antidepressant, is produced and this helps the flow of messages to your nerves and can alter your mood or the way you feel.
  • Our tummy muscles get a workout and this helps our digestive system cope with the business of breaking down our food and expelling it. (We can’t say it will help you to achieve a six pack!)
  • High blood pressure can be reduced after Laughter Yoga as we feel more relaxed.
  • Laughter Yoga exercises increases our circulation, warms up our bodies and gives us a healthy ‘glow’.

I am disabled. Is the workshop suitable for me?

Absolutely!  We will help you to have a positive  experience.  We can adapt the exercises to meet your needs. Let us know your needs in advance

How old must I be before I can attend a workshop?

From as young as 9 years to 99 years, if you can laugh, you can join in.

How long does a Workshop last?

Between 30 minutes up to 2 hours or even longer.   It really depends on you/your group needs.

Can your workshop cure my illness?

No but the Laughter Yoga elements of our workshops can help you to cope with and manage your illness and there are lots of health benefits of participating.  See question ‘What are the health benefits ?’ above.

Can I stop taking my prescribed medicines if I attend regularly?

No.  Please speak with your Doctor if you are thinking of stopping your medicines.

What if I start laughing and can’t stop?

At the end of a workshop we will help you to calm down, using breathing exercises and relaxation.

How big is a Workshop group?

The usual maximum number of people in one of our workshops is 30 and usually a minimum of 6.   However, some activities can be done on a one to one basis or with hundreds of people as long as they can hear or see the leader for example at a conference or large event.
